Prayer for the Fulfillment of GCAF’s Mission

by Emie Molo
Reading Time: 5 minutes

For the past Sundays, we’ve been listening to our pastors explain GCAF’s Vision Statement, detailing our commitment to discipleship. Last month, we’ve also started the construction of our multistory Discipleship Training Center along the coastal road.

We have also resumed our DBC classes two Sundays ago for this calendar year, offering two courses being ran simultaneously for the first time. We offered Church 101 and Understanding the Gospel, giving the congregation a choice on which course to enroll in.

Upon the completion of our training center, sometime in the last quarter of this year, more courses will be offered. All in fulfillment of our vision and mission statements to be a sending church, equipping its members to fulfill their mission in the world.

Jesus said He would build His church (Matthew 16:18), so the mission of our church comes from Him. Jesus calls us, the church, to make disciples—followers of Jesus. He provided the “Great Commission” to His followers as He prepared to return to Heaven.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Another part of the mission of the church is growing the maturity of Jesus’ followers. Ephesians 4:11-14 says, “And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming.”

In order to fulfill the mission given to us, we need to keep praying for our church.

Please pray for GCAF and our commitment to discipleship.

  1. Deepening Relationship with God: Lord, ignite within Your church—GCAF—a fervent desire for the congregation to deepen our relationship with You through discipleship, drawing closer to You in prayer, study of Your Word, and intimate fellowship with You.
  2. Provision of Resources:We pray for provision of the financial resources needed to fund the construction of our Discipleship Training Center. We ask You,  O God, to bless the generosity of our congregation, and grant us favor in securing additional funding through the efforts of our Joyful Channels ministry.
  3. Safety and Protection:We pray for the protection of all workers, contractors, and everyone involved in the construction process. Guard them from accidents, injuries, and any harm, and surround the construction site with Your angels for safety and security.
  4. Ministry Vision and Impact: Infuse our construction project with a sense of purpose and vision that extends beyond the physical structure. May our training center be a beacon of hope, a place of worship, discipleship, and outreach that impacts lives and transforms communities for Your glory.
  5. Anticipation of Spiritual Growth:Prepare our hearts and minds for the spiritual growth and transformation that will accompany the physical expansion of our church. May this season of construction be a time of deepening faith, renewed commitment, and spiritual revival among our congregation.
  6. Gratitude for God’s Faithfulness:Cultivate a spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving within our church community for Your faithfulness and provision throughout the construction process. Help us to continually acknowledge Your hand at work and to give thanks for Your abundant blessings.
  7. Commitment to Follow Christ’s Example:Help us, O God, to emulate the example of Jesus Christ, our ultimate model of discipleship. May we embody His love, humility, and servant-heartedness in all aspects of our lives.
  8. Empowering Discipleship Ministries:We pray for the strengthening and empowering of GCAF’s discipleship ministries. Equip pastors, leaders, and volunteers with the necessary resources, vision, and passion to disciple believers effectively.
  9. Cultivating a Culture of Growth:Lord, cultivate within Your church a culture of growth and maturity in faith. May discipleship not be seen as optional but as an essential aspect of Christian living, leading to spiritual transformation and fruitfulness.
  10. Equipping Believers for Ministry: Grant wisdom and discernment to our church leaders as they disciple believers, equipping them for ministry and service in the body of Christ. May every member discover and utilize their spiritual gifts for the edification of the church and the advancement of Your kingdom.
  11. Nurturing Spiritual Formation: Lord, nurture the spiritual formation of disciples, helping them to grow in knowledge, character, and spiritual disciplines. May they be rooted and grounded in Your truth, bearing fruit that glorifies Your name.
  12. Embracing the Call to Make Disciples:Stir within our church a renewed passion for the Great Commission—to go and make disciples of all nations. May every believer embrace their role in sharing the gospel, leading others to faith in Christ, and nurturing them in the faith.
  13. Fostering Authentic Community:Lord, foster authentic community within our church, where disciples can journey together in love, accountability, and mutual support. May we bear one another’s burdens, encourage one another, and spur each other on toward love and good deeds.
  14. Adopting a Lifestyle of Discipleship:Help us, O God, to adopt a lifestyle of discipleship characterized by humility, teachability, and a willingness to follow Your leading. May we deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow You wholeheartedly.
  15. Prayer for Discipleship Multiplication: Finally, we pray for multiplication in discipleship efforts, that Your church may be filled with mature, equipped believers who, in turn, disciple others, leading to a ripple effect of kingdom growth and transformation.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes from You, and so we seek Your guidance, provision, and favor for our ongoing church construction. We commit this construction project into Your hands, trusting in Your provision, guidance, and faithfulness every step of the way. May all that we do bring honor and glory to Your name.

Father, our hearts are full of gratitude for the gift of discipleship—the sacred journey of following Your Son, Jesus Christ. As Your church, we acknowledge our commitment to discipleship as foundational to our identity and mission. Tonight, we lift up our church’s commitment to discipleship before You, seeking Your guidance, empowerment, and blessing.

Lord, ignite within us a fervent passion for discipleship—a burning desire to know You more deeply, to walk in Your ways, and to make You known to others. May our hearts be captivated by the beauty of Your truth, and may we be relentless in our pursuit of spiritual growth and maturity.

Grant us, O God, the humility to submit to Your leading in every area of our lives. Help us to surrender our wills and desires to You, trusting that Your plans for us are good and perfect. May we embrace the discipline of discipleship with joy and anticipation, knowing that it leads to true freedom and abundant life in You.

Teach us, Lord, to be faithful stewards of the time, talents, and resources You have entrusted to us. May we prioritize discipleship in our daily lives, carving out space for prayer, study of Your Word, and meaningful fellowship with other believers. Help us to cultivate intentional relationships within our church community, where we can encourage, challenge, and support one another in our journey of faith.

Grant us the gift of spiritual discernment, that we may recognize opportunities for discipleship and be intentional in investing in the lives of others. May we be bold in sharing our faith and in making disciples of all nations, trusting in Your power to transform hearts and lives.

Lord, we recognize that discipleship comes with a cost—the cost of denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following You. Give us the courage to embrace this cost, knowing that You are with us every step of the way. Help us to persevere in faithfulness, even in the face of opposition or hardship.

Finally, we pray for Your divine empowerment, Lord, that we may be filled afresh with Your Spirit and equipped for every good work. May Your grace abound in us, enabling us to live as faithful disciples and to fulfill Your purposes in our generation.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
