The Danger of Pride

All of us ought to be students of the Word of God. All of us should be learning from Scripture because it is both vital and relevant for all aspects of our lives.

2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that, “All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness.”

With that said, there are two kinds of theology or an understanding of God, a good one and a bad one.

If we are not aware of the ever-assailing pride within us, we will become full of ourselves. And the result of being filled with pride will mean that every time we may be confronted with the truth of God, we will respond aggressively and think that we are being attacked personally.

We cannot interpret the Scriptures based on how we would like to understand it. We need to remember to let Scripture interpret Scripture.

It means as we study the Word of God and interpret it for our lives, our interpretation must be in line with the rest of Scriptures. Otherwise, our understanding will now become a contradiction to the what the Word says.

And God tells us that He does not contradict Himself (John 10:35).

As a Leader/Teacher/Preacher we ought to share/study the TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH according to the Scriptures. As for students of the Gospel, scrutinize every teaching/preaching to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1-6).
