Not Just to Believe but to Belong

The church is not just an exhibition of good works, it is also a hospital for the soul, a refuge of the weak, and a safe place to be honest and be restored to God.

There could never be genuine change for a person who chooses to journey with their hang ups on their own, and never seek help from the people whom God called them to be with in their Spiritual Journey.

It is a great mistake to think that everything is between you and God alone. The truth is, God called out a community where you ought to belong. A community whom He will use to change and challenge your mindset to be refined and aligned to His will.

We need to find a small group where we can be honest, not just modest in a way that hides our flaws. A place where we can be vulnerable and be courageous in claiming God’s grace. An environment wherein we are being continually transformed with the help of those whom God intended us to belong.

Without a sense of belonging there is no sense of accountability and without it, it is hard to have authentic change in our walk with Christ. If we are serious with our walk with Christ, we need to be with other believers. Like the birds who are migrating in winter season, they can only reach their destination with the help of each other; so it is for the children of God, we need the help of one another in order to reach our destination towards authentic spiritual maturity.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
